Some of you may know that we were planning on having Lacey boarded and many of you gave us great feedback.Some advice we did take on looking for specifics in boarding places vs the vet’s boarding.
We decided to bring her with us to the big island.The airlines we will be going with is pet friendly <20 pounds.
We have got a pet carrier for her,portable water bottle,treats,dry food, waste bags,bringing her bowls,her favorite stuffed animal.We’re getting her distemper done & we’ll get her health certificate from her dr.
Is there anything else we’re missing?How has some of you trained your dog to be in the carrier?Thanks for your help in advance!
I forgot to mention that we were already planning to bring puppy pads along.

Also the airlines we will be going with Hwn Airlines said that she doesn’t need a health certificate from her vet.She should be under 20 pounds in weight + crate and should follow the dimensions of 9.5" H X 10" W X 16" L.They told us that she will be a carry on and will be booked with myself with my parents on the same flight.They told us nothing about the HI Animal Quarantine laws.

I am flying Airtran on June 17th. I will be taking my Bichon Frise (At the time he will be 5 months) I need to take him because my aunt is going on a roadtrip and i will be gone for almost 2 months. What should i bring with me as a carry on for the Puppy? He will be in a Sherpa Carrier. Can i take a case of Ceasar Wet dog food? It will go in my checked in bag at the counter. Also what do they do on flights if someone is allergic to dog hair or dogs?

I am taking him to the Vet tommorow and will be discussing it with him. If he says it is not a good idea then i have no choice to leave him with family
Well they told me the dog would be put under the seat
I wish it was a direct flight. But i am flying from Kansas to Atlanta then to Florida. And i only have like a 30 minute layover so i will be rushing

I have a 2 lb. yorkie puppy. I was wanting to get a puppy carrier (the kind that looks like a purse, made for carrying dogs) so that I can take him with me places. However, I was wondering do businesses mind if you do this? For instance, if I went to Target could I take him in with me if he was in his carrier bag?

I’m looking to get a pup very soon; Its will be my very first puppy so i’ve been doing alot of research for the past 6 months. But what I cant decide is what breed im going to get? originally I was thinking of a shih tzu, then I thought perhaps a maltese but they are pretty rare and expensive so now i’m thinking of a mal-shi. I live in an apartment and would prefer a smaller breed; would a shih tzu generally be bigger than a mal-shi? Aside from its walks I would like to take my dog with me when I’m out and about. I am a frequent train users so will need to be able to sometimes take my dog with me, will a shih tzu or malshi fit into a smaller bag/carrier for such trips? Is there much variation between the two breeds i.e. temperment, size, weight etc??

at bettathang… whats so wrong with the term mal – shi? I understand that a maltese and shih tzu cross or mal-shi (whatever you prefer) would be a mutt as it obviously is not a full breed. whats the big deal?

at ‘ I love my goats’ a golden retriever is my ideal dog, I have loved that breed every since I was young but I live in an apartment. When I get a house with a nice big garden the first thing I will do is get a golden retriever

I am going to get my dog the following for our very known, very Y!A-controversial trip. He will be in the car for appx. 12-14 hours with stops every 3-5 hours and a picinic stop for about an hour,
-A ‘hard’ dog carrier
-a dog bed
-a couple of towels and newspaper to line the carrier.
-toys
-dishes
-gallon of water
-bag of BLUE (c) dog food
What made you think he is a puppy? He is almost 3. And I have had him since he was 2 1/2 months old. He doesn’t get carsick
