How much should I expect to spend on a replica/fake Louis Vuitton handbag in China if I bargain very well?
I am going to Beijing in four days and am looking to do a lot of shopping there. I am going to go on a replica designer gear shopping spree, so would like to ask about a few things.
Around what price ranges (in RMB) should I expect to pay for designer handbags? I want to buy, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Chanel etc. If someone knows a prince range for any of those brands that would be awesome!
Also, how about shoes? I don’t mind what designers shoes are, but I love Christian Louboutin. Do they sell replicas of them there?
And what about clothes?
Remember, the prices should be after bargaining with the shopkeepers.
Sorry it’s so much! If you can answer any parts of my questions even if it’s just one that’s fine!

I am currently living in Macau China and I have been over to mainland China a few times in the Zhuhei area to go shopping. There are TONS of designer bags. The price that you pay depends on the quality and the type of bag. For B and C class bags, the prices can be anywhere from 65 RMB to 200 RMB. ($10- 25 USD) I was at this one place once, and they asked me if I wanted to go into the VIP room. Then they opened a wall /door and back there were the A class bags which were WAY more expensive but they were also a much better quality. She started out asking me for 3,000 RMB but we finally settled on 1400 RMB which is about $100 US. There are some pretty nice B class bags which are way cheaper. I bought Gucci, Prada, and Coach. Just don’t pack too many in one suitcase because it is illegal! I didn’t have any problem getting them home though when I went back to the US for a visit. Have fun! (and I don’t reccomend going into the VIP room because it is hard to get out without buying something!)
Oh and keep in mind that the clothes run WAY smaller than they do in the US. I did see a bunch of shoes, but they weren’t really knockoffs. TONS of bags though! Also, I never paid the price on the tag for the clothes. (there always seems to be a sale going) Always ask what the price is. If they don’t discount it, ask for a discount. They will almost always discount it.
You can bargain the dealer for substantially lower prices, but remember if you are checked at customs you will have to pay the tax on the real products, and if you say the are not real they will confiscate them.
coz you are a gui lao [foreigner] they will try there hardest to cheat you, unfortunately its there nature, whatever they ask you offer them no more than 20% of the asking price .If you do decide to buy a certain item keep hold of it cos if they go to wrap it, or put it in a bag they swap it for a really bad copy, especially watches. Another ploy is to tell you the police are coming ,so hurry hurry give me money, you go., But one sure thing if are making a profit they wont let you walk away no matter how big or small it is. All you have to do is say BU Yao, and BYE BYE and they will follow you and say OK OK .
thats the best way to deal with them
i’m a student in beijing, so i bargain very well! go to silk street or ya show! The biggest mistakes foreigners make is they buy stuff way toooooo high, they believe the shopkeepers. The shopkeepers will do anything to sell it to you! if they say 2000 buy it for 80 I AM NOT KIDDING!!! When u ask how much it is they will tell u a crazy number and if u say like 60 they will say no and when u walk away they call u back. the words they use r "i loose money" "r u ill" "dollar or yuan" their so funny! . u could buy a suitcase with a 100 yuan so that means u shouldn’t buy anything more than 200 even if it is LV or Gucci! If they don’t sell it to you, go to the other side everybody has the same stuff! Bargaining in beijing is hard and stressful work so be prepared! GOOD LUCK!
I got mine for 200 RMB – you have to be a really good bargainer. Dont buy in stores, try street markets and vendors.
As for customs, I flew home with about 100 movies, Louise Vuitton and a lot of Gucci and my suitcases werent opened at all, boxes shipped home were and nothing was said or done about the knockoffs
